INESCAPABLE: THE BEGINNING

By Madge H. Gressley

Headstrong, impulsive, and beautiful Darcey Callahan takes off in search of Brad, her life’s love, who did not call five weeks after he went on a secret, high-profile job abroad, despite his promise that he would. Knowing that something was wrong, Darcey went to find Brad, only to find herself thrown into a nightmare she had never expected. Will she find her way out? Will Brad be able to save her from the dangers she fell into because of him…or will it be too late?

Action-packed. Full of suspense. Romantic. Fiery.

Yes, I am thinking of Inescapable: The Beginning. When Miss Gressley requested for a book review and sent me the synopsis of this book, I was immediately intrigued. Darcey went abroad looking for Brad who, she believes, is in danger. Instead of finding her life’s love, Darcey fell into a nightmare of accidents caused by manipulations of people wanting to harm Brad, and wanting to take her for her beauty.

A strength of Inescapable: The Beginning is it’s fast-paced, never boring story. At every page, something happens. If you missed a few chapters, you will find that a lot already transpired in the story. It is not a book that can be good at some points, and then slows down on the next that you would be tempted to jump over a few pages.  The plot is gripping, the romance fiery, and the flow so fast and strong you would not be noticing your coffee had already gone cold (this is not an exaggeration – I had to prepare another coffee while reading this one).

Another good point about Inescapable: The Beginning is the way Miss Gressley created the characters. They are convincing, unique, and complex in their own ways. I love how Miss Gressley used foreign characters, languages and places, even underwater – that it felt like I am watching a movie with multiple settings. The characters are all almost flesh and blood. They are described very well, from their looks, actions, until to their feelings. I specifically fell for Nicho, who worked as an escort to Darcey and later on fell for her – under Brad’s watchful eyes.

The way Miss Gressley wove suspense, intrigue, action, and romance all in one book is superbly done. I am sure you will be reading this book from start to finish in one sitting, and you will be asking for more!

RATING

I am happy to give Inescapable: The Beginning 5 out of 5 stars! If you want a real page-turner, remember to have this book on your hands the soonest you can 🙂

Book Signing

Well, my book signing is fast approaching (only nine days away) and I can’t help but worry—will there be a good turnout?  I’ve read that at some book signings only a few people show up and at others no one at all.

It’s more difficult for Indie Authors, especially new ones, to get the publicity that traditionally published authors do. But, I’m plugging away with tweeting, facebooking, tumbluring, Co-Promoting, word of mouthing, just any and all types of publicity I can think of for my book. I’ve heard Rome wasn’t built in a day, my guess it wasn’t built in a month either. That’s why reviews are so important to Indie Authors. It helps build their audience. Also, when you Facebook or tweet about an author, it creates a buzz about them and drives prospective readers to check out the book to see what the buzz is about.

I will be doing a radio interview on KSIS, Wednesday, July 16, at 9 a.m. along with my editor Mary-Nancy Smith of Eagle Eye Editing, about my books and the book signing. Be sure to tune in and listen.

This morning  I checked in at the Reader’s World’s website, and noticed there are 27 people coming and 12 maybes. That’s great! Just yesterday I had people calling to say they’re sorry they can’t make it, and asked if I would sign a copy and put it back for them to pick up later. Happy to do it!

I am so excited about my books. Not only will INESCAPABLE:The Beginning be there, but book two INESCAPABLE:Remembering will the there, also. I hope to see everyone there on July 19, 5 – 7 p.m. at Reader’s World, in State Fair Shopping Center.

INESCAPABLE:Remembering by Madge H. Gressley

INESCAPABLE:Remembering is now out in paperback and hopefully it will be available at my book signing on July 19. They promised I’d have it by the 16th. We’ll see. (keeping fingers crossed)

For those of you who might not have made it over to Amazon yet to check it out, here is a brief description about the book:

Amnesia, surveillance, high-speed car chases, murder and attempted murder, espionage, and betrayal. Fear, joy, sadness, excitement, intuition, and remembering are all integral parts of the sequel to Inescapable: The Beginning.
Car wrecked, kidnapped, auctioned off, bought, drugged, and transported six miles under the Atlantic Ocean. If that wasn’t enough, add amnesia to the mix, and Darcey Callahan does not know who she is, where she is from or how she wound up in this never-ending nightmare. She does not remember who the man that purchased her is, and, although her mind is frightened and does not trust him, her body betrays her. Is it possible her body remembers what her mind cannot?
Will reacquainting Darcey with her old best friend Marti, help to regain some of her memories? Will it be enough to clear the fog that has settled over her memory? While new threats and opportunities begin to surface, will Darcey and Brad have a chance to make their happily ever after a reality? Or, will they be left adrift in an ocean of lies and deceit?

Drop on by Amazon and pick up your copy available in Kindle or paperback.   http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L8ERRH6

I’ve had rave reviews on both books, so I know you won’t be disappointed.

Well, I’ve finally gone and done it. I’ve created a blog. Now what do I blog about. I guess the first thing would be about my new book, “Inescapable – The Beginning”.

I started it last June and finished it sometime in February this year. It certainly isn’t the same as when I started. Oh, the story is the same, and characters are the same, but as I’ve written, I can tell I have grown to a much more polished way of writing. Through the various and sundry friends and acquaintances who have critiqued for me, and my editor at Eagle Eye Editing, I feel I have a really good book. In fact, I would like to share with you my very first review:

What’s better than a book that encompasses mystery, intrigue, and romance? I cannot think of anything! As a new Indie Author Madge Gressley hits it out of the ball park with her debut novel. Inescapable, the first in a series, has enough mystery to keep the reader on the edge of their seats from page one, enough intrigue that it is able to continue to build throughout the book and enough romance to compliment the intrigue.
Inescapable takes readers on a wonderful journey from Dallas to three miles under water and from Lima to Morocco. The characters are so real that they almost jump off the page. The friendship between Darcey and Marti is so similar to friendships I have had, I could empathize and make an instant connection with each. The relationship Darcey and Brad have is awesome!
I won’t spoil the book for new readers but I will say this: once you start this book, you won’t be able to stop and when you reach the end if you don’t … then you need to reread it!
Take a chance on a new indie author! You won’t be disappointed! I promise!!!

So go on over to Amazon and check it out. If you don’t have a Kindle, Amazon has a Kindle app for other electronic devices. Oh, and…it’s free for two days—Friday & Saturday, May 30 & 31.

Forgot to mention…book #2 is at the editors as I write and I will have book#1 in paperback soon.
