Review: Branches of Time

Branches of Time

Luca Rossi

I’ve finished reading  “The Branches of Time.” First let me say that it is not my general genre that I read, but all in all, I enjoyed it very much. It was a little hard getting into the story, but once I figured out the author’s writing style, it read quickly. I did have a little trouble figuring out what time frame and exactly where the story was taking place. Sometimes it felt Medieval, sometimes Nordic, sometimes futuristic, sometimes fantasy, sometime off world, so I’m still not sure. The author indicated that it took place on an island but, I never quite got that feeling. It would have been nice to be able to nail it down.

I liked the characters, especially Beanor—a true villain. The characters Nal and her brother, even though the author did not say, I believe they are the ones playing a game that manipulates the other characters.

As I said, I enjoyed it very much and would love to read the sequel to it.

Penned Con 2015 St. Louis

Over the weekend my editor Mary-Nancy Smith, and I went to the Penned Con 2015 in St. Louis. Had a terrific time! I met so many fantastic authors, especially, one of my all time favorite authors—Amy Bartol.

I picked up some great swag and increased my “must read” list by at least 50. As soon as I’m finished with the “ELE” series by Courtney Nuckels and Rebecca Gober, (BTW it’s a great series and a quick read) I will get started on all of the great books I discovered at the Penned Con!

We finished off the day with a very enjoyable evening meal with JD Nelson, Dannielle Bannister and Julie Cassar at the Spaghetti Factory. It’s located in a quaint section of St. Louis, but those cobble stone streets are crazy! Can’t imagine what a ride in the horse and buggy would be like traveling over those. It was bad enough it the car!

I will be there next year, September 23 & 24, 2016. Already reserved my table. Now just have to make hotel reservations.

Leaving the Bio Dome in safe hands, Darcey and Brad travel to Morocco for their perfect fairytale wedding all thanks to Luis Vargas who has come to think of Brad as the son he never had and Darcey as the daughter he should have had with his lost love Saleem. Darcey learns of her heritage from her newfound grandmother, Aicha Kaddur, and is stunned to learn who her mother really was.

Darcey’s grandmother, knowing she is terminally ill, changes her will naming Darcey sole heir to the Kaddur fortune and businesses. However, danger arises as Darcey finds herself the object of her mother’s deranged brother, Ahmed Kaddur’s evil obsession to kill her. Not only because she is the heir to the Kaddur fortune, but more importantly, she is the wife of Brad Daniels who he loathes with a passion and blames him for derailing the plans to take over the Bio Dome off the coast of Peru.

When Brad learns that the Environmental Research Consortium (ERC) and ORCA are working against time to save Earth’s population from an ever-increasing crisis as the ozone layer diminishes, he accepts the top-secret job with ORCA to build Bio Domes similar to the one he built off the coast of Peru on…”

Synopsis is a dirty word!

How does that go?

Here I sit all broken hearted, come to………………..and only………………!

That’s how I feel when I try to write a synopsis for my books. UGH! My mind is whirling with things to say, but I have trouble shortening them up so I don’t write another novel! I want it to flow without giving every little detail but have enough information the reader will get the jest of the book. You know, just touch on the main things, but with me that’s hard to do. I keep getting stuck in the minutiae. My mind wants to explain the generalization I just wrote defeating the whole purpose of generalizing. UGH

I’ve been working on this since 10 a.m. this morning. (It’s now 2:30 p.m.) I have finally narrowed it down to 5 paragraphs—long paragraphs. Still need to crunch some more, but have a headache from banging it on my desk. Started third pot of coffee and grabbed the Tylenol. Does that make sense?!??

Of course it doesn’t help that the floor guy is here putting in some new flooring. I keep bouncing up to check on what he is doing and lose my train of thought between the dining room and the keyboard. LOL I keep hoping when I sit down again the whole thing will have magically written itself. You know, like a “synopsis fairy.” Probably not gonna happen. Didn’t get the “housekeeping fairy” I asked for either.

Woot! Woot!

Just sent the last chapters to my editor. Now comes the final read through. I am soooo excited about this book! I had no idea how it would end up until the last punctuation mark appeared on the screen.

I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

And don’t forget you can pre-order on Amazon at All pre-orders are automatically entered to win a Kindle Fire HD7.
