I have to say I am extremely disappointed in the new site InkBok.com. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great site. Their concept is spot-on—a reader’s paradise. For a monthly membership fee, the reader has unlimited access to hundreds, if not thousands of titles, articles, short stories, poetry, etc., and the authors are paid a royalty based on the number of ‘reads’ their work receives. A percentage of the membership fee goes to the authors, to charity and to the administration of the site. Sounds like a win-win all around, right? It is if you are a reader, but if you are an author, not so much.
There are hundreds, maybe thousands of books, stories, articles, both royalty based and free listed. The problem is there are so many, your work gets buried, and is sometimes hard to find, and so far (to my knowledge) they have not done any promoting of the authors. I have been a member for over three months and the only promotion for my book ‘The Red Coat’ has been done by me, even though I had been assured that the site would soon be promoting the authors. To date all they have done for me is to retweet my promo tweets.
Does that sound like ‘sour grapes’? Really it’s not, as my feelings have been expressed by other authors in the chat rooms. There used to be lots of conversations going, but now….silence. I have been to the site at different times during the day and there is nothing going on—no authors or readers online. Even the InkBok Team, which was online practically 24-7, is now missing. I think the last post date I read was May 12. Most of the comments I’ve read have been observations on the lack of traffic and promotion.
I am going to give it one more month and then I will remove my book from the site. In the meantime, I have listed it on Amazon.com, so, please go check it out. Introductory price is 0.99¢. http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00KPW3ANC
